The self destruct button and the heart of the matter~

In life, only one thing is certain... apart from death and taxes... no matter how hard you try, no matter how good your intentions, you are going to make mistakes. You're going to hurt people. You're going to get hurt. And if you ever want to recover... There's really only one thing you can say. Forgive and forget. That's what they say. It's good advice, but it's not very practical. When someone hurts us... we want to hurt them back. When someone wrongs us, we want to be right. Without forgiveness, old scores are never settled... old wounds never heal. And the most we can hope for is that one day we'll be lucky enough to forget.

If life's so hard already, why do we bring more trouble down on ourselves? What's up with the need to hit the self-destruct button? Maybe we like the pain. Maybe we're wired that way. Because without it, I don't know... maybe we just wouldn't feel real. What's that saying?
"Why do I keep hitting myself with a hammer?"
"Because it feels so good when I stop."

    Yeah...

Maybe we love the pain, but the pain that we keep in the heart, will teach us to be more careful in the future.

Sounds coward huh? Some will be petty problems while some not.

Yeah, seems like it. It's not the careful consideration that will determine whether or not we'll survive the pain.

If we do survive the pain, can it be consider as we are strong enough?

"Slit my wrists, and take away the pain"

I really want to shout something like that.

Pain I feel is the indication of how human I am. The reminder of my own humanity. My mistakes. My failures. My weaknesses. My shortcomings. And all these become clear when I am in pain.

Wounds will heal, but the scar stays. Pain will subside, but the memory remains. There's no guarantee that the pain will go, nor does it mean that we won't feel it again in the future.

So how do we live with all these?

Simple: one day at a time.
